Knowing we need a Servitude mindset is one thing.

Actually building systems and frameworks that embody and reinforce that mindset is another — and much harder.

We are dealing with a very human problem.

When a different voice or opinion surfaces that challenges the dominant thinking, groupthink and hive mind often kick in automatically. The new idea gets labeled “fringe,” “conspiracy,” “rebellion,” or “not the right time.” People tend to cluster around familiar ways of thinking. It feels safer. Peer pressure and the desire to belong make it very hard to stand alone. Foundational voices frequently get silenced or ignored, not because the ideas are wrong, but because they feel uncomfortable or disruptive to the current direction.

Why This Happens

Comfort with the familiar
Most people in any group are focused on the immediate goal (in our case, statehood and legislation). Foundational questions feel like they slow things down or complicate the plan.
Peer pressure and social belonging
It is much easier to go along with the group than to stand alone and ask hard questions. Disagreeing with the dominant view can feel like disloyalty, even when it is done respectfully.
“Out of sight, out of mind”
When an idea is big or requires rethinking the foundation, many prefer to set it aside rather than wrestle with it. It is human nature to avoid discomfort.
Blame the messenger
Instead of engaging the substance (“Is county sovereignty truly protected?”), it is easier to say “your communication style is the problem” or “you’re being tone-deaf.” This shifts the focus away from the actual issue.

We see this pattern everywhere: in politics, in churches, in families, and in reform movements.

It is why good people with good intentions can still build systems that later become centralized or corrupted.

How We Got Here

We became where we are today because human nature has not changed.

We must use wisdom to look several generations ahead. Just studying the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers is not enough. We must also study Dillon’s Rule, historical patterns of centralization, and real-world examples happening today.

This is not unique to any one group. It is basic human psychological behavior.

It is why even well-intentioned movements can drift into centralization and control over time.
